Introduction

We are a friendly choir of some 60 mixed voices.  As well as being in the top division of the Leith Hill Festival in which we join forces with other local choirs to sing in one of the country's most famous musical events with Brian Kay as the Festival conductor, we put on several of our own concerts, accompanied by professional instrumentalists.  We perform key works from the main choral repertoire ranging from Bach to Bernstein, as well as smaller scale part songs,  madrigals and songs from the shows.

Our Musical Director is Charles Janz, who is an extremely talented musician, being a highly accomplished organist as well as a choral conductor. Our accompanist is David Harvey, a highly skilled pianist who also steps in as conductor if Charles is away.

We rehearse on Monday evenings at East Horsley Village Hall, Kingston Avenue (click here for street map) 7.45 for an 8 o'clock start from September through to July, with additional rehearsals prior to concerts, and Saturday morning workshops to refine our vocal technique!  Rehearsal notes, schedules, and tapes/CDs/mp3s give us extra help.

An enthusiastic committee plans a wide range of activities as shown by the online diary, and our news and album page which gives links to information about forthcoming events and links to accounts of  all of our events since the website started in November 2000

New members are always welcome.  There is no audition; the most important thing is that you enjoy making music.  Just come along to any rehearsal to meet us, and have a sing;  there will be no obligation for you to pay while you 'try us out'!  Please contact us for further information in any way which suits you best as follows:

Other choirs may be looking for Musical scores which are available for hire or purchase from the Librarian.

The Website is maintained by Helen, who welcomes any kindly-worded feedback, and enjoys maintaining the album of choir's activities, a list of useful musical Weblinks, and a musical interactive zone which is hopefully fun and educational!

Helen hopes that choir members will make the site one of their  favourites and visit it regularly for up-dates and info, [click on 'News' and links to new content are shown by the symbol ), and contribute content by e-mailing her.
