Stephen rehearses the Ensemble Group 'Londonderry Air' |
| Here are the women ... |
And here are some of the men ... |
| Most of the choir listens attentively .. |
But there's always one, isn't there?
She'll probably awake in response to Paul's solo. To see his song, click here. |
| And here we are, setting up the hall for the concert....
Zena, Trish and Derek ponder the programme |
Margaret displays the programme and her newly acquired T shirt from Ravenna (but modestly requests a photo which conceals her trendy shorts!). Nancy in supportive role. |
| The programme starts with Negro spirituals. And note that some of us DO look at the conductor ..! |
Paul sings 'Let Beauty Awake' (Vaughan Williams) and 'Fear no more the heat o'the sun (Finzi). A polished and professional performance. Wonder whether it will affect Alison? |
| Zena and Olive look to their accompanist (Gwenda) before starting their charming duets - 'The Rose of Tralee' (Glover) and 'My love is like a red red rose (Moffat) |
The audience takes a break between each item. Stephen takes the opportunity to 'work' the audience with his unique charm! |
| There's plenty to talk about ... |
while we wait for the next items. |
| Brenda holds up her glass prior to delivering two entertaining recitals .. 'Diary of a Church Mouse ' (Betjeman) and 'We are survivors'. |
Jean delivers a heart-rending recital of 'The Alto's Lament'... we feel so sorry for her ... |
| But then, she doesn't look too unhappy here does she?! |
Peter seems to have been moved by her plight tho'! |
| More time to relax and chat - here's Eleanore's table |
We really enjoyed the two solo spots provided by our talented pianist Peter: Study in Ab major 'The Harp' (Chopin) & 'Tango' (Stravinsky) |
| During the evening, the performances had been occasionally enlivened / drowned out by the noise of trains from the adjacent railway line, and so it was appropriate to round off the evening with the last Negro spiritual 'De Gospel Train'. We're looking forward to 'gitting on board'.... but perhaps not quite yet!! |

See you at our Birthday Concert on 17th November!
Have a nice summer!
