AGM 2005

Following an enjoyable 'Leith Hill Festival', we had a dynamic debriefing session, a positive planning session, a buoyant birthday bash (well, a specially adapted song for Robin's 30th and a beautifully decorated cake from Jean), and a chance to look at the photos and video clips from the centenary celebrations (a necessary explanation for the heavenward looking singers you see towards the end of this page!)

O Maestro ours

words by Horsley Choral Society (with some help from William Shakespeare)

Robin Walker thirtieth birthday commission: world première

April 2005

O maestro ours! where are you roaming?

O! stay and hear; your true choir’s coming,

That can sing both high and low

Trip no further, handsome sweeting;

Journeys end in Horsley meeting,

Ev’ry Leith Hill’s choir doth know

What is Horsley? * 'tis not hereafter;

Present mirth hath present laughter,

What’s to come is still unsure,

In delay there lies no plenty:

Then conduct us, sweet and thirty,

We’re a stuff will yet endure.

* I’m sure Shakespeare would understand the need for an extra syllable here.
