Our next concert is
advertised on the home page and has a link to information about the programme,
the location and the tickets.
We have a regular schedule of three main concerts a year. These are
well attended, and as well as enjoying the music, we try to raise money for
charities as well through a raffle and donation of some of the profits. As part of the Leith Hill group, we
can join in with other local choirs for special concerts. Click on the
links below to find out more:
| HCS Autumn concerts |
From September to November, we practise for a formal concert
which usually comprises one main choral work, some shorter ones, and one
or two instrumental works from our invited instrumentalists. Local
churches and schools often allow us to use there premises as a venue. |
| The Christmas Carol Concert |
Following the November concert, we start practising
Christmas music which is presented in an informal concert, usually in the
Village Hall or a local church. |
The Leith Hill Festival |
From January to April, we practise for the 7 Competition
pieces prescribed by the Leith Hill Festival. Part song - madrigal -
full chorus - men's song- women's song - own choice - ensemble. More
info below
We are very proud to be part of a long-standing association with The Leith
Hill Festival, set up by Ralph Vaughan Williams in order to encourage more
music-making in Surrey villages. It gives us an opportunity to sing with a
full professional orchestra and soloists, as well as the chance to sing in
a massive, enthusiastic choir! We have thoroughly enjoyed the
musicianship and approach of the regular festival conductor, Brian Kay. We choose to sing in 'Division 3' which has the
most challenging repertoire. Usually there are 3 other choirs in this
division, and when we all get together.

| The Summer Concert |
We sometimes hold an informal concert in the summer |
| The Surrey Festival Choir |
Many of our members join in this during the summer and
prepare for a concert which takes place in Guildford Cathedral. |
