David Harvey
David Harvey has been rehearsal pianist for us since 2003. As well as being an excellent accompanist, we have been very grateful that he has stepped in as our conductor on occasions when the conductor has been unable to be with us. He gives us confidence and makes us feel comfortable about asking if we're not sure, while at the same time aiming for a high standard! He also regularly plays for LLoyds Choir in the city and St Bart's Hospital Choral Society. He studied at the Royal College of Music with John Blakely and on the postgraduate accompanist course at The Royal Academy of Music with Iain Ledingham and Andrew West. He was awarded the Shinn Fellowship for 2002-3 by The Royal Academy to work within the opera department, during which time he also organised two concerts of French songs and chamber music. David was rehearsal pianist for the London Royal Schools Opera productions of works by Mozart,. Bizet and Rossini; Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) for the Amersham festival and Il modo della Luna (Haydn) for Royal Academy Opera. He has performed several sets of staged opera scenes with the RCM and has assisted Iain Ledingham and Dr Lella Alberg on four operatic summer schools in the Liguria region of Italy. Concert venues include Chichester cathedral, the Pump Room in Bath and St Martin in the Fields with soprano, to celebrate the centenary of verdi. David accompanied the winner of the 2003 MOSCA Welsh singer of the year. Last year saw two performances of Poulenc's La voix humaine at the Oratory Arts Centre with soprano Delphine Gillot, directed by Alessandro Talevi. Since 2002 David has been pianist for Wimbledon Light Opera Society whose productions include The Mikado, Sweet Charity and Oklahoma!, performed at the New Wimbledon Theatre. |
