Horsley Choral Society are back in town buoyed by the success of their summer tour of Slovakia.
The Horsley singers, led by retiring musical director, Val Beynon, joined forces with the Oxshott Choral Society to give a series of concerts in a packed programme which included performances of Vivaldi’s “Gloria” in Bratislava and Skalika as well as a cramming in a bit of sightseeing in the Bratislava region with a bonus visit to Vienna before flying back home.

Tour organiser, Cheri Griffin, commented, “The tour was an outstanding success, the Choir was enthusiastically received by audiences with a number of standing ovations. It was a great experience for all concerned with a unique opportunity to both see the sights and get to know the wonderful people of Bratislava.”

HCS is now looking forward to the leadership of newly-appointed Musical Director Elspeth Wyllie. Elspeth works for The Conservatoire, Blackheath, and has years of experience working with several choirs in South London. HCS is currently rehearsing for their seasonal concert of Music for Advent at St Andrew’s Cobham on Saturday 6th December.

Horsley Choral Society is a non-audition choir which welcomes new members. Join them on Monday evenings at East Horsley Village Hall from 1st September or check out their website at www.horsleychoralsociety.com for more information.
